We arrive at the Sunshine Inn just in time for a Rainbow
We head to Wall Drugstore to see what it's all about
It takes up a whole city block.
In 1931 Ted and Dorothy Hustead purchased Wall Drugstore in Wall a town of 326 people mostly farmers who had been wiped out by the depression. Business was very poor but they decided to stick with it for 5 years. The summer of the 5th year Dorothy got the idea that travellers going through Route 44 thru the hot prairie would be thirsty so they put up signs for free ice water: "Get a soda . . . Get a root beer . . . turn next corner . . . Just as near . . . To Highway 16 & 14. . . Free Ice Water. . . Wall Drug." . . . and the people came. The following summer they had to hire 8 girls to help. The rest is history.
Train Station Water Show & fun picture-taking props in a picnic area. Plus dozens of shops. They get up to 20,000 people a day in the Summer.
I had a great video of the roaring Dinosaur but my Kodak Photo Program lost it (I hate Kodak Gallery!)
Everyone raves about the doughnuts (their actually fried cakes) but I think the Pecan Roll is amazing!
Till Later!
Meanwhile we keep on Trek'n
