The Badlands - Day 1

We are off Thursday and Friday so we decide to go visit the Badlands before the Summer Heat and tourists arrive.  It is supposed to be 90's Thursday and upper 70's Friday.  We pack for an overnight trip and decide to stay in Wall, SD home of the famous Wall Drugstore.

We secure a room and drop off our luggage and off we go!

The road in goes along rolling hills and the Buffalo Gap Grasslands

We soon see Prairie Dogs and Buffalo

Don't mess with the Employees they are on their way to work!

There are Pronghorn here as well

Then the rock formations come into view

It feels like you are walking on the Moon

Living on the Edge!

It is 90's so we decide to do some of the shorter easier hikes.  This is the
Trailhead for the Window and Door trails

View from the Window

View out the Door!

We figure how bad could the 1/4 mile Saddle Pass Hike be?
Well it's a 1/4 mile pretty straight up on paths with small pebbles that are like walking on Ball Bearings.
See the Peak?

 That's where we'll end up!

I think I can see the Tracker in the parking lot

There seems to be a wide variety of rock formations

Yellow Mounds

Flat grass topped buttes

Well, it's getting late and it looks like a storm might be passing thru so back to Wall!

Till Later,

Meanwhile we keep on Trek'n
