On the Road Again - Albuquerque, NM to Durango, CO

We leave Albuquerque and had planned on stopping at the International Hot Air Balloon Museum as it is free on Sundays.  We get there and it is not free May 6th because of a Children's Festival going on so we opted out and continued on to Santa Fe.  Our first stop was the  Wheel-Wright Museum of the American Indian which we missed last time we passed through.  Unfortunately, they were changing exhibits and there was nothing to see!
We walked around the Old Town

and got a phone call from our friends on horseback, Art & Sue. They were just north of town so we thought we'd try and stop in and say hey!  We tried to find them, but the GPS kept getting us lost so we gave up as we were in the RV and continued on up to Espanola to the Walmart for the night.  The next morning we took 84 up towards Chama where there is a narrow gauge railroad.  We passed through red rocks.

I had also wanted to stop at Ghost Ranch where Georgia O'Keefe painted.

We got there and it was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays!  So, time to start looking for a place for the night.  There is a State Park on a lake 10 miles away so we head there.  Unfortunately our GPS sends us down a road that becomes a one lane dirt road with sheep, goats and cows.

We continue on to Chama where there are 3 RV parks open and find one where we can dry camp for $12.50.  It also turns out that the Train does not start running until 5/28!   We go out for dinner and I have a really good Trout and Gary has a Burger.  The next morning there is more snow on the Mountains than the day before!

Next stop is Navajo Lake State Park and stay a couple of nights.

Here's your sign!  Though from here it was a few turns to the lake - the sign needed to be at the first turn on 511 at the top of the dam - if you lost your brakes you were going in the water!

Tucson gets a bath!

The "Lake" is quite large and there is a Marina with quite a few Houseboats.

Time to mosey on to Colorado!  We take 511 North to 160.   It has some pretty steep grades and turns in one section.

But we make it to Colorado!  Next stop Durango.
Till Later!
Meanwhile, we keep on Trek'n

Timing is everything isn't it? We've been known to mistime going places. Enjoy reading blog.
