Yuma

We arrive in Yuma as I chipped a tooth a couple of months ago and need to see a dentist.  The dentists are about 1/4 the cost in Mexico and Algodones Mexico is only about 10-15 miles away.

Yuma is the Winter Vegetable Capital of the World

They also have some pretty good Date Shakes as Tucson will agree.

Also home of the Territorial Prison.  It was falling into ruins when the State took it over and turned it into a State Historic Park before it disappeared completely

Quite the Mug on Gary's face don't you think?

Cozy little quarters.  The prisoners called it Hell on earth - the locals called it the Country Club because it had water, indoor toilets, an infirmary, library and had a prison band and softball team.  Evidence indicates that the prison was humanely administered, and was a model institution for its time.

Gary decided I needed a time out

111 prisoners died while incarcerated
Well after a few thousands dollars in front end work we go all out and get 6 new tires.

With all that money spent on the motorhome, we decide to spend a few FREE nights at the Paradise Casino.  Maybe we can win some back ....

I managed to finish my painted screen for the door.
View from outside

View from inside.  Pretty cool - offers a little privacy when you  have the door open but does not block your view out.

The parking lot wasn't very pretty but there was a really nice park next door where we walked Tucson.  He had a ball playing hide and seek in the ornamental grasses.

Head into Algodones Mexico for my dental work.

There are literally hundreds of dentists offices.  I had 2 crowns and a teeth cleaning done for $420.

Figured I'd splurge and get the $7 haircut as well.  Gary opted for Tanqueray!

Upon return we headed to some BLM land to camp on at Fortuna Pond
It was very relaxing and a nice view

We stayed for 3 days out of the 14 day limit and decided to head back up to Quartzsite and meet with our friend Shirley out on the Desert.

Luckily we were able to find a spot close by!

Again, you shouldn't let full time RV'ers adopt dogs - a dog should have a back yard.

I have some friends that winter in Yuma and their dog loves date shakes too. I think they make a special over the border to CA for them. I used to work with Phyllis. I was wondering how you did your screen door painting. I love it. My Mom has painted my tire cover for me but I would love to have her do one of them. My email is julsrv@yahoo.com Julie
